Glodwick School aims to create a welcoming atmosphere where everyone is valued and encouraged to reach their personal best.
Our Aims
The Curriculum
The school aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, which reflects the cultural background and interests of the children. This curriculum continues to incorporate the five outcomes celebrating Every Child Matters.
These are:
- stay Safe
- be Healthy
- enjoy and Achieve
- make a Positive Contribution
- achieve Economic Well-Being.
The curriculum also develops the children’s key skills including Communication, Learning to Learn, Problem Solving, Working with Others, Application of Number and the use of Information and Communication Technology. We ensure that throughout the curriculum we provide opportunity for social, moral, spiritual and cultural development including developing respect for and understanding of others and British Values. We provide a child led learning curriculum where independence is encouraged.
We also aim to provide a stimulating, challenging curriculum, which offers a wide range of learning opportunities, based on first hand experiences to enrich concept information.
Learning Environment
The organisation of the learning environment will provide for a child-centred and led approach to active learning which caters for individual differences and allows children to progress at different rates, according to their developmental stages, individual needs and aptitudes.
Through social interaction, we aim for the continued development of key skills and social skills to enhance self-esteem and confidence. We aim to provide a secure environment, which establishes the foundations upon which later stages of development can build.
Equal Opportunities
Equal opportunities are given to all individuals and children are encouraged, at Glodwick, to grow into independent, autonomous, knowledgeable citizens, respectful of others and themselves appreciating, accepting and understanding difference.
Parents
Parents are encouraged to be involved in the life of the school whenever possible, so that they can contribute to and value their children's education. There is a weekly opportunity for parents to attend our Celebration Assembly on Friday morning at 9am. We also provide learning opportunities for our families throughout the school year.
Ethos and Values
Glodwick’s Ethos and Values in delivering a Quality First Education to all Learners:
To provide a broad, balanced curriculum at foundation stage and national curriculum level incorporating the Key Skills of Communication, Working with Others, Problem Solving, ICT, Application of Number and Learning to Learn, taking into consideration the cultural background and interests of the children.
To provide a stimulating and challenging environment, offering a wide range of learning opportunities, based upon first hand experiences, to enhance the acquisition of concepts and their future reinforcement. To encourage learners to self-evaluate their learning experiences and understand their next steps.
To provide a child centred approach to active learning, which caters for individual differences and allows children to progress at different rates, according to their developmental stages, needs and aptitude; in order that they may achieve their personal best with consideration to Equal Opportunity and Inclusion, Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Development.
To provide opportunities for social interaction and encourage the development of social skills to enhance self-esteem and confidence. To develop the Thinking and Social Skills of Enquiry, Information Processing, Creative Thinking, Reasoning, Evaluation, Motivation, Long-term memory, Self-awareness and the management of feelings. To provide a secure environment which establishes the foundations for all later stages of development and follows a policy of Social Inclusion and Emotional Intelligence.

To work in partnership with full involvement of all staff, parents, governors and the community in the life of the school, in order that they may contribute to the education of the children at Glodwick.
To follow the School Development and Improvement Plan reviewed by staff and governors. To follow the areas for improvement and development agreed by Ofsted during their inspection in February 2019, monitoring their progress and success throughout the years embedded in a programme of rigorous and ongoing self-evaluation.
