Welcome to Nursery

Welcome to Nursery's Year group page

Below you will find lots of helpful tips for parents, our curriculum overviews and photographs of our learners being the best that they can be.

In Nursery 2022-23

In the Nursery we aim to foster independence and build self-esteem. We do this by organising the environment inside and outside so that children can choose where to learn and can access well labelled resources without help.

Children know where to find what they need and are given responsibility for tidying up. We aim to follow daily routines so that children feel secure and soon learn what will happen next.  The routine involves a combination of large group, small group and independent activities.

Nursery's Session Times

Our Morning 'Welcome Time' starts at 8:30am and leads into registration time at 9am and then into our Morning Nursery session. The Morning Nursery Session concludes at 11:30am

Our Afternoon 'Welcome Time' starts at 12:10am and leads into registration time at 12:40pm and then into our Afternoon Nursery session. The Afternoon session concludes at 3.10pm

Welcome time

Welcome time starts with the children practising writing their name. They then participate in 'Dough Disco' or 'Move and Mark' activities. These include different shoulder, arm, elbow, hand and finger exercises to music. The activities help the children to develop their pencil grip and control, which in turn supports the development of mark making and writing skills.

Annual Curriculum Overview 2022-23

In the EYFS we consider children’s interests when planning our curriculum.  We aim to provide children with a broad and balanced curriculum that will provide children with the opportunity to make as much progress as possible whilst developing a love and enthusiasm for learning.

We create a simple plan based on our observations of children’s interests as they enter Nursery and Reception.  The details of the curriculum to be taught are added each half term but can be subject to change depending on the children.

A more detailed plan is added onto the class pages at the beginning of each half term so you can see what your child will be learning in school and use this to help support them with their learning at home.
